_ [comp/Windows] 見えないフォルダ
使ってない領域にパーティションを作成したのが関係あるのかないのか分からないが、あるフォルダにアクセスすると、「〜はフォーマットされていません。フォーマットしますか」みたいなダイアログが出るように。他のフォルダは大丈夫ぽい。 137Gbytes超IDEディスクの正しい使い方を見てIAAを入れてみたら I/O エラーのダイアログが出るようになった。[ツッコミを入れる]

commit log で ftp mirror が廃止されたのでうんぬんという文脈でabolishedという単語を使ったら、ネイティブスピーカーには違う風にとられるので、obsoleteとかdeletedとか使った方が良いよという指摘を受けた。"abolish" is generally used to mean "has been made illegal" and is a very strong term.ということらしい。これまでずっと同じような感じで使ってしまっていたので勉強になった。感謝。

RFC3501 によるとNote: The STATUS command is intended to access the status of mailboxes other than the currently selected mailbox. Because the STATUS command can cause the mailbox to be opened internally, and because this information is available by other means on the selected mailbox, the STATUS command SHOULD NOT be used on the currently selected mailbox. The STATUS command MUST NOT be used as a "check for new messages in the selected mailbox" operation (refer to sections 7, 7.3.1, and 7.3.2 for more information about the proper method for new message checking). Because the STATUS command is not guaranteed to be fast in its results, clients SHOULD NOT expect to be able to issue many consecutive STATUS commands and obtain reasonable performance.とのこと。uw-imapdでやってみると以下のようになる。

ThinkPad X31 で$ ipconfig Windows IP Configuration An internal error occurred: この操作を正しく終了しました。 Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help. Additional information: Unknown media status code.のような状態だったのだが、DOSプロンプトで、ipconfigをたたくとエラーが返ってくる（長文）を見て HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters にてDisableDHCPMediaSenseを非0に設定することでエラーが回避できた。 (How to disable the Media Sensing feature for TCP/IP in Windows)
